There are not enough words to describe how I felt about this wedding. This was my first non-florida ceremony and it was everything I ever dreamed of and more. A golden hour ceremony atop one of Pennsylvania’s highest points.
Wonderful couple: CHECK
Dreamy venue: DOUBLE CHECK
Warm and welcoming friends/family: CHECK CHECK CHECK
I met Jen + Dan years ago when they moved to Tallahassee from Pennsylvania. Our first shoot together was them with their two dogs, Semi and Ellie, frolicking in one of our local greenways. I remember them saying they had just moved to the area for Dan’s PhD program at Florida State and just wanted some photos in their new hometown of Tallahassee. Months had passed when I got an email from Jen saying they were interested in flying me up to Allentown, PA to capture their wedding. My heart immediately jumped! My first ever “flying to a new state” wedding. Not only did they fly me out, but they allowed me to stay with them in Jen’s childhood home. The house alone was a perk of the trip. Nestled in the middle of a rural countryside, it was the most charming house settled on hundreds of acres. Not to mention, their family breeds poodles and there were at least 6 beautiful dogs for me to play with.
One of my favorite memories of the trip aside from Jen + Dan’s actual wedding: My flight landed in Allentown around 10 pm and Jen had her mom scoop me up from the airport and shuttle me over to the house. It didn’t take long for me to feel right at home. She gave me the ins and outs of the family’s roots and how they all ended up in this tiny town. As we pulled up to the pitch black drive way, we turned off the car and it’s many lights to view the hundreds of lightning bugs light up the night sky. We don’t really have lightning bugs in Florida so you can imagine my excitement. It’s little moments like these that make me treasure my incredible clients. Only with their help am I able to experience such amazing moments such as these!
The wedding itself was held at Blue Mountain Ski Resort. Jen + Dan both come from large families hence the LARGEST wedding party I’ve ever captured! 7 bridesmaids and 7 groomsmen. I couldn’t have asked for a better crowd to work with. I hope you enjoy the highlights from this gorgeous, special day.
